Hi all! I have a Victor Reader New Generation since last April and everything was fine until I started to want to read text files. Basically my problem is that when I use rtf files it says file format not supported and it gives some error and the book disappiers from the list of files on the text folder. It's really annoying because most of my books are in rtf. I know it supports rtf files because it is written in the manual! Any ideas on what might be the problem? Thank you very much! Cheers
Hi there,
I had this issue with the older victor stream as well; the only thing that seemed to help was either replacing the SD card itself, or scanning said card for possible errors. I have no idea if that had anything to do with the issue clearing up, but the two followed each other quite nicely. If it's not the card, maybe try updating the stream, even if it's already up-to-date. This will at least replace the firmware in case of bugs. Otherwise, I'd recommend troubleshooting by using a different medium to play the .rtf books, like a flash drive, and see if that works. I apologize that I don't have a concrete fix to this problem; I never really did figure out what caused it. In the meantime, though, it's easy enough to convert .rtf documents to almost any other format, either by using MS word, a program like doxilion document convertor, or a website like zamzar.com.
Good luck!
Thank you Meglet!
I contacted the reseller where I bought the Victor Stream and they said is a known issue. They are working with Humanware to solve this issues.
Also another problem I found is when I was reading txt files it jumped some paragraphes so I was missing some parts of my book.
I solved the problem by converting my files in MS Word to Webpage Filtered Htm files and it works. Now it reads everything and it also kept the formatting of the files. It was a nice suggestion on their Frequently asked questions session!
Thank you very much again for your help!
Cheers
You're very welcome.
